Aspire has a naming problem, and Gotek buyers are paying for it. There are now seven Gotek models on sale in the UK: the X, the S, the Nano, the X II, the X3, the Pro, and the brand-new Pro II. The names tell you almost nothing about which one to buy. The X and the X II are different generations, the S is the X’s design-led twin, and the Pro II is not just a bigger Pro. Meanwhile every retailer ranking on Google sells the range, so their “buying guides” all end the same way: buy ours.
This guide does the comparison no seller will. Every Gotek model measured against the others, the pod compatibility matrix that decides what you can actually vape in each one, and the two new arrivals, the Gotek Pro II and the Gotek V2 Pod, that most of the UK has not heard of yet. If you want the brand-level picture too, our Aspire brand guide maps every Aspire family. This page is only about the Gotek line, model by model.
The lineup at a glance
Before the detail, the whole range on one table. Battery sizes and key specs below are from Aspire’s official product pages and current UK retailer listings.
| Model | Battery | Output | Airflow | Display | Pod compatibility |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gotek X | 650mAh | Fixed 3.6V | Adjustable bottom slider | None, simple LEDs | 0.8 ohm refillable, 1.0 ohm prefilled |
| Gotek S | 650mAh | Fixed | Adjustable | None | 0.8 ohm refillable, 1.0 ohm prefilled |
| Gotek Nano | 1000mAh | Fixed 3.45V | Adjustable | Battery display | All Gotek pods |
| Gotek X II | 800mAh | 1-19W adjustable | Adjustable bottom slider | LED indicator | All Gotek pods |
| Gotek X3 | 1200mAh | Adjustable | Adjustable | Not specified | All Gotek pods |
| Gotek Pro | 1500mAh | 13-16W fixed | Retailers list fixed | LED battery indicators | All Gotek pods |
| Gotek Pro II | 2500mAh | ECO/NOR/MAX 3 levels | Adjustable bottom slider | Segment display | All Gotek pods incl. V2 Pod |
The pattern is simple: the X and S are the entry point, everything from the Nano upward takes every pod in the range, and the Pro II is the first Gotek with real wattage control.
Gotek X: the original that started it
The Gotek X is the device that made the Gotek name. A slim, translucent, matchbox-style pod kit with a 650mAh battery, constant 3.6V output, and an adjustable airflow slider on the base. It is draw-activated, there are no buttons and no menus, and it ships with a 0.8 ohm mesh-coil pod that you fill from the side and throw away when the flavour fades.
It became a bestseller for one reason: it is the closest thing to a disposable that stays legal. Fill it, puff it, replace the pod. No learning curve at all. Our heavy smoker guide includes the X as a pick, because heavy smokers need a device that works on day one without a manual, and the X qualifies.
The limitation is built in. The X’s fixed output will not fire the 0.6 ohm pod correctly, so you are locked to 0.8 ohm refillable pods and the 1.0 ohm prefilled pods. For a mouth-to-lung vaper on nic salts, that is no real sacrifice. If you want the looser, warmer 0.6 ohm experience, you need a model further up the range.
Gotek S: the design-led twin
The Gotek S is the X’s sibling with the same 650mAh battery and the same simple draw-activated operation, but a more designed, lifestyle look where the X is deliberately plain and technical. Think of it as the X for people who care what the device looks like in their hand.
Functionally it is the same story as the X: adjustable airflow, 0.8 ohm pods only, and the same side-fill refillable pods. If the price is the same and you like the styling, the S is the nicer pick. If the X is cheaper that week, buy the X and spend the difference on pods. There is no performance reason to prefer one over the other.
Gotek Nano: the compact with a screen
The Nano is where the range starts getting interesting. It keeps the small, pocketable format but steps the battery up to 1000mAh and adds a battery display, so you can actually see your charge level instead of guessing from a blinking LED. It comes in eight colourways, split between illustrated panels and translucent Ice bodies that show the internals.
Crucially, the Nano takes the full pod range: 0.8 ohm, 0.6 ohm, 1.0 ohm prefilled, and the new V2 Pod. That makes it the cheapest Gotek that does everything. If you are not sure whether you are an MTL or a restricted-direct-lung vaper yet, the Nano lets you find out with a pod swap instead of a new device.
Gotek X II: the power step up
The X II (sold as the X2 in some shops) is the X’s bigger brother with an actual brain: an 800mAh battery and a 1-19W adjustable output range, which makes it the first Gotek in the classic format that lets you tune the power. It keeps the adjustable bottom airflow, adds an LED working indicator, and ships with a 0.6 ohm pod, which tells you who it is for: vapers who want a looser, more flavour-forward draw than the original X allows.
It takes every pod in the range, so nothing about your consumables changes if you upgrade from an X. The X II is the pick for the vaper who started on the X, liked it, and wants one more gear without learning a new system.
Gotek X3: the middle ground
The X3 sits between the X II and the Pro: a 1200mAh battery with adjustable airflow and full pod compatibility. It is the least talked-about model in the range, which is a shame, because on paper it is the balanced choice: meaningfully more battery than the X II, simpler than the Pro, and every pod option open.
If the X3 is priced near the X II where you shop, the extra battery life makes it the better buy for all-day use. If the Pro is only slightly more, read the next section before deciding, because the Pro’s bigger battery and metal build are worth the step for heavy users.
Gotek Pro: the all-day tank
The Gotek Pro is the range’s workhorse: a 1500mAh battery, 13-16W fixed output, and a metal body that feels a class above the plastic X. It is the first Gotek built for people who vape a lot and do not want to think about charging until the evening. LED indicators track the battery, and the draw is tuned for an authentic mouth-to-lung experience.
It takes the full pod range, 0.6 ohm included, so you get the battery of a big device with the pod freedom of the newer models. The trade-off is simplicity: there is no wattage adjustment, so what you feel is what Aspire decided. For most buyers that is a feature, not a bug.
Gotek Pro II: the new flagship
This is the model most of the UK has not heard of yet, and it changes the range. The Gotek Pro II is a 2500mAh device with three selectable wattage levels, ECO, NOR and MAX, a segment display, a power button, and adjustable bottom airflow. It charges over Type-C at up to 2A, and it is the first Gotek that feels like a proper adjustable pod kit rather than a disposable replacement with a bigger battery.
It also launches the Gotek V2 Pod, a new pod generation with an upgraded meshed coil in 0.6 ohm and 0.8 ohm, and it stays compatible with the whole existing pod range including the 1.0 ohm prefilled pods. Seven colourways are shown on Aspire’s official page, from gunmetal and black to blue, gold, purple, silver and rose.
Who is it for? The heavy vaper who has outgrown fixed-output pod kits but does not want a box mod. If you are choosing between the Pro and the Pro II, the II’s bigger battery and wattage control are worth the premium unless you specifically want the simplest possible device.

The pod map: which pods fit which device
This is the section that saves people money, because the pod rules are the most misunderstood part of the Gotek range.
The 0.8 ohm refillable pod fits everything. It is the standard pod, the one every kit ships with or supports, and the right choice for mouth-to-lung vaping with nic salts.
The 0.6 ohm refillable pod fits the X II, X3, Pro, Nano and Pro II only. It will not fire correctly on the Gotek X or the Gotek S, because their fixed output is tuned for the higher resistance. This is the single most common Gotek buying mistake: buying 0.6 ohm pods for an X. It also suits slightly higher-VG liquids, up to 70% VG, and gives a looser restricted-direct-lung draw.
The 1.0 ohm prefilled pod fits the X, S, Pro and X II. These are the closest thing to the old disposable experience: no filling, just click in and vape. Since single-use disposables left the UK market, prefilled pods are the legal successor format, and our pod kits vs disposables comparison explains that whole shift.
The Gotek V2 Pod is the new generation with the upgraded meshed coil, in 0.6 ohm and 0.8 ohm. It fits the same devices as the equivalent standard pod. If you are buying pods for a newer model, the V2 is the one to ask for.
Two practical rules. First, match the pod to the device before you buy: check the table above. Second, UK pods are 2ml under TPD rules; the larger pods you may see discussed online are non-UK versions and are not legal for sale here.

Which Gotek should you buy
Forget the specs for a moment. Here is the range by buyer.
The ex-smoker who wants it simple: Gotek X or Gotek S. Fill, puff, replace the pod. Pair with a 20mg nic salt and you have the easiest legal replacement for the disposable habit. Our how to switch from smoking to vaping walks through the whole transition.
The style-conscious buyer: Gotek S. Same guts as the X, better looking.
The all-day vaper on a budget: Gotek Nano. The cheapest way into the full pod range, with a battery display and enough capacity for most people’s day.
The vaper who wants to tune things: Gotek X II or Gotek Pro II. The X II if you want adjustable power in the classic slim format, the Pro II if you want the biggest battery and a proper display.
The heavy user who hates charging: Gotek Pro or Pro II. The Pro for simplicity, the Pro II for control.
The prefilled pod fan: any of the range, but the X or S keeps it cheapest, since you are paying for pods, not battery.
And if you are comparing against other brands before committing, our best refillable vape guide puts the Gotek range next to its real rivals.
E-liquid, priming and pod care
Gotek pods are happiest with 50/50 nic salts or high-PG freebase e-liquids. That is the ratio the 0.8 ohm coil was designed around: smooth, good wicking, proper throat hit. The 0.6 ohm pod tolerates up to 70% VG, but thick high-VG shortfills will wick slowly and dull the flavour in either pod, so keep them for your sub-ohm gear.
Priming is non-negotiable. Fill the pod, close the silicone bung, and let it sit for five to ten minutes before the first puff. The coil is built into the pod, so a dry hit on a fresh pod is not just unpleasant, it shortens the pod’s life. When flavour drops off or vapour thins, usually after one to two weeks, replace the whole pod. Sweet, heavily-flavoured liquids kill pods faster than plain tobacco or menthol.
One more habit worth building: keep a spare pod filled. Gotek pods are cheap, widely stocked, and the difference between a good vaping day and a burnt one is a fresh pod in your pocket.
Buying Gotek without getting burned
The Gotek range’s popularity makes it one of the most counterfeited pod lines in the UK. Fake kits and fake pods are common, and a fake pod is an untested heating element you are inhaling from.
Buy from established UK retailers, not marketplace sellers or social media ads. Check the scratch-off authenticity code on the packaging against Aspire’s verification before you fill the device. Be suspicious of prices far below the high street norm, especially on pods, where the margin for fakes is fattest. Inspect the packaging: blurry printing, misspelt words and flimsy boxes are the classic tells. Our fake vapes guide shows the full checklist.
Also check the pod in the box. UK kits ship with 2ml TPD pods; if a “UK” kit arrives with larger pods, the seller is not selling you the UK version, whatever the listing said.
Gotek FAQ
Which Gotek is the best?
For most UK buyers, the Gotek X II or the Gotek Nano. The X II adds adjustable power to the classic format, the Nano gives the full pod range cheapest with a battery display. Heavy users should look at the Pro or the new Pro II.
Are all Gotek pods compatible with all Gotek devices?
No. The 0.8 ohm pod fits everything. The 0.6 ohm pod fits the X II, X3, Pro, Nano and Pro II, but not the X or S. The 1.0 ohm prefilled pod fits the X, S, Pro and X II. Check the table before buying pods.
What is the difference between the Gotek X and the Gotek X II?
The X is the original: 650mAh, fixed output, 0.8 ohm pods only. The X II steps up to 800mAh, adds 1-19W adjustable power, ships with a 0.6 ohm pod, and takes the full pod range.
What is the Gotek Pro II?
The newest and biggest Gotek: 2500mAh battery, three wattage levels (ECO, NOR, MAX), a segment display, adjustable airflow, and compatibility with the full pod range including the new Gotek V2 Pod.
What is the Gotek V2 Pod?
A new pod generation with an upgraded meshed coil, available in 0.6 ohm and 0.8 ohm. It fits the same devices as the equivalent standard pod and is the pod to ask for on newer models.
What e-liquid should I use in a Gotek?
50/50 nic salts or high-PG freebase liquids for the 0.8 ohm pod. The 0.6 ohm pod handles up to 70% VG. Avoid thick high-VG shortfills in either.
How long do Gotek pods last?
Typically one to two weeks, depending on usage and e-liquid sweetness. Replace the whole pod when flavour fades; the coil is built in and non-replaceable.
Are Gotek vapes legal in the UK?
Yes. The Gotek range is refillable, with 2ml TPD-compliant pods, and is fully legal under current UK rules. Only single-use disposables were banned in June 2025.
Gotek X vs Gotek Pro: which should I buy?
The X if you want the cheapest, simplest entry point and are happy with 0.8 ohm MTL vaping. The Pro if you vape heavily and want a 1500mAh battery, metal build and the full pod range. If you want both battery and adjustability, the Pro II beats both.
Can I use prefilled pods in my Gotek?
If your model supports the 1.0 ohm prefilled pod (X, S, Pro, X II), yes. They are the closest legal equivalent to the old disposable experience.
Verdict: start with the pod, then pick the device
Here is the shortcut through the whole range. Decide your pod first: 0.8 ohm for simple MTL vaping, 0.6 ohm if you want a looser draw, prefilled if you want zero filling. Then buy the cheapest Gotek that takes that pod and has the battery life you need.
For most people that lands on the Nano, the X II, or the Pro II. The X and S remain the best first device ever made for a smoker who wants zero decisions. And the range as a whole is why Aspire keeps winning the post-ban era: one pod system, seven ways to buy into it, and spares you will still find in three years. If the wider market tempts you, our best vape guide covers everything else worth considering.
