The device that made vaping glitter
Walk into any vape shop in Britain and you will see them before you read them: slim, faceted, faintly sparkling devices that catch the light like costume jewellery. SKE did not invent the disposable vape, but it did something no rival managed. It made the hardware a fashion accessory. While every other brand sold pastel sticks, SKE Crystal sold something that looked like it belonged in a handbag next to the lipstick.
That is why the brand matters, and why the search results are so unsatisfying. Retailer category pages, stale reviews of a disposable that has been illegal for over a year, and FAQ snippets written to sell pods. Nobody has written the whole thing down properly. This guide does that: what SKE Crystal is, every current device decoded, the flavours with tasting notes, what the UK ban changed, what it costs, how to spot fakes, and how to fix what goes wrong.
Start here: which Crystal should you buy
Thirty seconds, no fluff:
Just want the old Crystal Bar feeling back? The Crystal 600 Pro is the direct, legal replacement. Same flavours, same size, same roughly-600 puffs, but the battery recharges and you swap pods instead of binning the device.
Want choice between prefilled and refillable? The Crystal Plus takes both SKE prefilled pods and refillable pods you fill yourself. The flexible middle ground, and a good fit if you like SKE flavours but want to try other juice too.
Want to switch flavours through the day? The Crystal 2400 4-in-1 carries four pods in one device. Twist and go.
Want the best value per puff? The CL6000 gives roughly 6,000 puffs per pod set (a 2ml pod fed by a 10ml auto-refill bottle) for about the price of a sandwich. Heavy vapers should look at this first.
Want the longest run before a reorder? The SKE Bar 15K pushes roughly 15,000 puffs per pod set. Commit to one flavour for a long while.
Coming from cigarettes and want the simplest possible start? The 600 Pro again. It is the closest thing to “inhale and done” that the law still allows.
One more thing before we go deeper. If you are weighing Crystal against its great rival, our Lost Mary brand guide covers the whole Lost Mary range, and our Elf Bar vs Lost Mary comparison breaks down how the two brands differ.
SKE in five beats
Beat one: the name. SKE is the company, Crystal is the brand family. Think carmaker and model range.
Beat two: the crystal. Faceted, transparent-effect casings that scatter light. Pure theatre, and it worked: the Crystal Bar was instantly recognisable from across a room.
Beat three: the flavour library. One of the largest flavour catalogues in the game, dozens of profiles, carried forward into every new device and bottled line. Blue Fusion became the brand’s signature the way a hit single defines a band.
Beat four: the ban. The UK outlawed single-use disposable vapes, and the original Crystal Bar disposable became illegal to sell. SKE did not fight the law. It rebuilt the range around rechargeable hardware and kept the flavours.
Beat five: where it stands now. SKE Crystal is a pod-kit brand. Seven-ish devices, one flavour library, one design language. The glitter survived. The bin-the-battery era did not.
Decoding the lineup: every device, translated
The lineup confuses people because the names read like product codes. Here is what each one actually is, who it suits, and the honest catch.
Crystal 600 Pro, the official replacement. Roughly 600 puffs per 2ml pod, 20mg nic salt, 400mAh rechargeable battery over USB-C, mesh coil, inhale activated. Kits run around £3 to £5, replacement pods in pairs around £8 to £9. The catch: it is the most expensive way to vape SKE flavours per puff. But if all you want is the old Crystal Bar experience legally, this is it.
SKE Bar 600, the simpler sibling. Similar idea, roughly 600 puffs, 500mAh battery, clip-on pods. Pod swaps feel fiddlier than the 600 Pro, and the flavour menu is narrower. Fine as a backup, outclassed as a main device.
Crystal Plus, the flexible one. Roughly 600 puffs per pod on a 400mAh battery, and the standout feature is pod freedom: run SKE’s prefilled pods, or drop in refillable pods and vape any juice you like, including SKE’s own Crystal Original nic salts. For people who love the hardware but do not want to be locked to one company’s pods forever.
Crystal 2400 4-in-1, the variety machine. Four 2ml pods mounted in one device, around 2,400 puffs total, 950mAh battery, twist to switch. Chunkier than the single-pod devices, and pointless if you have settled on one flavour. But nobody else does flavour-switching this simply.
CL2000, the quiet middle child. Around 2,000 puffs, 850mAh, seventeen flavours. Competent, unexciting, often discounted.
CL6000, the sweet spot. Each pod set combines a 2ml pod with a 10ml auto-refill reservoir for roughly 6,000 puffs, on an 800mAh battery with a battery display. Kits sell around £5 to £10, replacement pods around £6 each, which works out near a tenth of a penny per puff. The catch: pods only fit the CL6000, and 20mg is the only strength, so there is no step-down path.
SKE Bar 15K, the marathon. Around 15,000 puffs per pod set, 850mAh. The cheapest per puff in the family. Buy it if you vape one flavour and hate reordering. Skip it if you get flavour fatigue, because you are marrying one blend for weeks.
Crystal Original Nic Salts, the bottles. Ten-millilitre 50/50 nic salt bottles in 10mg and 20mg, the same recipes as the original disposable bars, around two dozen best-sellers. Pair them with the Crystal Plus refillable pods or any refillable kit. The cheapest way to vape SKE flavours by a distance.
The retired one: the original Crystal Bar disposable. The 600-puff single-use device that built the brand is illegal to sell in the UK. Anything still on sale under that name is old stock, illegal stock, or fake. Do not buy it.
Puff maths, demystified
The puff numbers on SKE devices confuse everyone, because they are not all counting the same thing. Here is the translation.
Small kits (600 Pro, Bar 600, Plus) are rated around 600 puffs per 2ml pod. That is a straightforward figure: a full pod, vaped to empty, gives roughly 600 normal draws. Your mileage varies with draw length. Big-puff numbers are not.
The 4-in-1’s 2,400 is four 600-puff pods in one housing. The CL2000’s 2,000 and CL6000’s 6,000 and Bar 15K’s 15,000 come from the legal workaround that defines the post-ban big-puff market: a 2ml pod (the maximum the UK rules allow in one pod) paired with a separate 10ml refill reservoir that tops the pod up automatically. The CL6000’s 6,000 puffs come from roughly 12ml of liquid total, not from a bigger single pod. Nobody has found a loophole. They found the legal design and built around it.
Treat every puff count as “up to”. Long draws, chain vaping, and cold weather all shave the number down. The ratings tell you the relative ranking, a CL6000 outlasts a 600 Pro pod by about ten to one, not a guaranteed count.
Banned or not: the plain-English answer
The question behind half the “crystal vape” searches is really this: can I still buy Crystal Bars? Here is the answer in plain English.
Single-use disposable vapes, including the original SKE Crystal Bar disposable, are banned from sale in the UK. Shops cannot legally sell them, online or in person, whatever the nicotine content. That is the whole of it.
What is legal: every rechargeable SKE Crystal device above. They comply with the UK rules because the battery is rechargeable, the pods are replaceable, and pods stay within the 2ml limit at 20mg maximum nicotine. The Crystal 600 Pro exists specifically to give ex-disposable users a legal device that tastes like the bars they remember.
Two traps to avoid. First, any shop still selling “new” original Crystal Bar disposables is selling illegal stock or fakes, full stop. Second, the nicotine limit is 20mg, so any “Crystal” product advertised at a higher strength is counterfeit by definition. For the full picture of how UK vape law works now, our UK vaping guide walks through the current rules.
The flavour board
SKE’s flavour library is the reason the brand survived the ban, and it is enormous. Rather than list forty-odd names, here they are the way you should actually shop: by what you are in the mood for.
The signature. Blue Fusion is the one, the best-selling SKE flavour, and the blend the brand is known for. Blackberry and raspberry depth with a blueberry sweetness on top, smooth, layered, never harsh. If you try exactly one Crystal flavour, this is the statistically correct choice.
The ice cabinet. Cherry Ice, Cola Ice, Watermelon Ice, Mango Ice, Menthol, Cotton Ice, VMT Ice. Cherry Ice is the standout, sweet dark cherry with a proper frosty exhale. Watermelon Ice is the easy all-day pick. VMT Ice is the cult favourite: grape, mixed berries and ice.
The fruits. Strawberry Burst, Blue Razz Lemonade, Lemon and Lime, Pineapple Peach Mango, Strawberry Kiwi, Kiwi Passion Fruit Guava, Triple Mango, Honey Melon, Green Grape, Strawberry Raspberry. Lemon and Lime is the sleeper hit, sharp and clean. Blue Razz Lemonade is the one people buy on repeat without thinking.
The sweet and fizzy. Fizzy Cherry, Pink Lemonade, Bubblegum, Gami Rare, Sour Apple. Fizzy Cherry recreates a cherry soda with a sparkling edge. Pink Lemonade is sharp raspberry-lemon with a sweet finish, and it cuts through palate fatigue when the berry blends start tasting flat.
The oddballs. Bull Ice and Vimbull Ice, the energy-drink ones, sweet, sharp, divisive. Tobacco, for ex-smokers who want familiarity, and Fresh Menthol Mojito, which is exactly as specific as it sounds and better than it has any right to be.
Two practical notes. First, the Crystal Original nic salt bottles use the same flavour recipes as the pods, so a flavour you love in a pod will taste the same from a bottle. Second, rotate. Even Blue Fusion goes dull by day six if it is the only thing you vape. For a wider tour of what is popular beyond SKE, our popular vape flavours guide covers the full landscape.

The money bit: what it actually costs
SKE is a mainstream-priced brand, and the interesting question is not what the kits cost but what the running cost looks like per device, because the range spans from “expensive per puff” to “cheapest in its class”.
Rough anchors from current UK listings: the 600 Pro kit around £3 to £5, replacement pods in pairs around £8 to £9. The CL6000 kit around £5 to £10, 6,000-puff replacement pods around £6. Prices move with promotions, so treat these as anchors, not quotes.
The maths that matters: a 600-puff pod at roughly £4 works out near 0.7p a puff. A 6,000-puff CL6000 pod at roughly £6 works out near 0.1p a puff, about seven times cheaper. And the refillable route, a 10ml bottle of Crystal Original nic salts in a Crystal Plus, undercuts both, which is why heavy vapers end up on bottles.
One more cost factor worth knowing: the UK’s vaping products duty now adds £2.20 per 10ml of e-liquid, including the liquid inside prefilled pods. Spread over thousands of puffs it barely registers. Our breakdown of disposable vape prices shows how the same maths works across the market, and our guide to what a disposable vape actually is explains why the old disposables were the most expensive way to vape.
Fake Crystals: how to spot them
SKE Crystal is one of the most counterfeited vape brands in Britain, and fakes skip the safety testing, battery protections, and quality-controlled e-liquid of the genuine article. The single most reliable check takes under a minute: scratch the silver security panel on the box, scan the QR code or enter the code at the official SKE verification page, and confirm the result matches the product in your hand.
Back it up with three supporting checks. Buy from established retailers with a real shop or a proper website, not market stalls, car boots, or social media sellers. Treat any price far below the market as a warning, not a bargain. And know the tells: there is no such thing as an official “Crystal Mary”, that is a mix-up of Lost Mary and Crystal Bar and a dead giveaway of a fake, and any Crystal product claiming more than 20mg nicotine is counterfeit by law, because 20mg is the UK legal maximum.
If the security code fails, the panel is missing, or the packaging looks wrong, do not vape it. For a deeper walkthrough that applies to every brand, our how to spot fake vapes guide covers the full checklist.

When it misbehaves
Pod kits are simple, but they still go wrong. Here is the symptom, the likely cause, and the fix.
Pod in, nothing happens. Nine times out of ten this is the five-click child lock or a dead battery. Charge over USB-C for fifteen minutes first, then check the pod is clicked fully home. If the device has a lock feature, click the button five times rapidly.
Weak vapour, flavour fading. The pod is near empty or the coil is tired. On a 600 Pro or Plus, swap the pod. On a CL6000, check the refill reservoir through the see-through tank: if it is dry, the pod is done.
Burnt taste. The coil has run dry. Do not try to revive it. Replace the pod (or the pod set on a CL6000). On refillable Plus pods, it means you let the juice level drop too low, keep it above the coil windows.
Leaking. Usually a pod stored on its side in heat, or a seal damaged by forcing the pod in at an angle. Wipe the contacts, reseat the pod straight, and store the device upright. Persistent leaking from a new pod means a faulty pod: replace it.
Gurgling or spitting. Condensation in the mouthpiece or a flooded coil. Remove the pod, wrap the mouthpiece in tissue, and flick it downward firmly two or three times.
Charging problems. Every current SKE kit charges over USB-C. Use a standard phone charger or laptop port rather than a high-wattage fast-charge brick, and unplug when the indicator shows full. If a device blinks and refuses to charge, try a different cable before assuming the battery is dead.
Crystal vs Lost Mary: the honest head-to-head
These two brands defined the disposable era together, and they have taken different paths since the ban.
Crystal’s edge is the flavour library and the design. Nobody matches SKE for the sheer number of flavours carried across devices, and the faceted look is still the most distinctive hardware in the category. The 600 Pro is also the more faithful disposable replacement: it feels closer to the original bar than Lost Mary’s equivalents do.
Lost Mary’s edge is flavour intensity and the high end of the lineup. Lost Mary blends run sweeter and bolder, and its big-puff devices climb higher up the puff-count ladder. If you want the strongest-tasting vape possible, Lost Mary usually wins the blind test.
The practical difference: Crystal offers the cleaner ladder from beginner to heavy user (600 Pro to Plus to CL6000 to Bar 15K), while Lost Mary’s range is broader but messier to navigate. If you cannot decide, start with a 600 Pro and a Blue Fusion pod, then read our Lost Mary brand guide and pick a side.
Rapid-fire answers
Is Crystal Bar banned in the UK? The original single-use Crystal Bar disposable is banned from sale. The rechargeable Crystal devices, 600 Pro, Plus, 2400 4-in-1, CL2000, CL6000, Bar 15K, are legal and widely sold.
What is the difference between the Crystal 600 Pro and the Crystal Plus? The 600 Pro is the faithful disposable replacement: prefilled pods only, simple, cheap to start. The Plus is the flexible one: it takes prefilled pods or refillable pods you fill with any e-liquid, including SKE’s bottled nic salts.
Which Crystal device lasts longest? The SKE Bar 15K at roughly 15,000 puffs per pod set. The CL6000 at roughly 6,000 is the better buy for most people, less of a flavour commitment.
Are Crystal pods interchangeable between devices? No. Each Crystal device uses its own pod family, and pods are brand-locked to SKE. The one exception: the 600 Pro also accepts Crystal Plus pods, prefilled or refillable.
What should I do with empty pods? Do not bin them with household waste. The batteries and electronics need proper recycling: most vape shops take back used devices and pods, and many supermarkets and council recycling points accept them.
Can I still get Crystal Bar flavours in a refillable vape? Yes. Crystal Original nic salt bottles use the original disposable recipes and work in the Crystal Plus refillable pods or any refillable pod kit.
